Dr. Kathryn Hoffmann

In 2007, she completed her qualification as a physician in General and Family Medicine.
​
Since 2010, she has been a Public Health scientist, has worked for the Medical University of Vienna for just as long, and has been habilitated in the field of General and Family Medicine since 2017.
​
She completed research stays at Duke University in the U.S.A. and at Ghent University in Belgium.
​
From 2016 to 2018, she served as the interim head of the Division of General and Family Medicine.
​
From 2020 to 2023, she was Head of the Unit “Health Services Research and Telemedicine in Primary Care” within the Department of Social and Preventive Medicine at the Medical University of Vienna.
​
In 2022, she additionally worked as a Senior Health Expert for Gesundheit Österreich GmbH.
​
In February 2023, she was appointed Professor of Primary Care Medicine and became head of the department of the same name at the Center for Public Health of the Medical University of Vienna.
​
She is Austria’s representative in the European General Practice Research Network, author of numerous scientific publications and book chapters, and principal investigator of scientific studies focusing on post-acute infection syndromes and ME/CFS, primary care research, and telemedicine.
​
In addition, Prof. Hoffmann has been practicing medicine again since 2020, specializing in post-acute infection syndromes and ME/CFS since 2022, and since 2025 is a board-certified specialist in General and Family Medicine.
​
From 2022 to 2024, she contributed to building the Long-Covid Clearing Unit of the ÖGK Health Center Mariahilf in Vienna.
​
Since 2025, she has been working as a locum physician in the practice of Dr. Geiger and in the Long-Covid Online Clinic of Dr. Geiger’s practice.
